Emilio J. Vargas is a Spanish-speaking adoptive father, advocate, and emerging author whose life journey bridges storytelling and service. Born in Aibonito, Puerto Rico and raised in Cayey, Emilio began his professional life as a radio host and voice-over artist, connecting with audiences through emotion, humor, and authenticity.
After relocating to Connecticut, Emilio’s path shifted when he became a father through the foster care system. His personal experience-navigating the challenges and triumphs of fostering and adoption-ignited a passion to support families walking similar roads. Today, Emilio blends lived experience with advocacy, offering heartfelt storytelling workshops, community outreach, and public speaking focused on foster care, adoption, and family resilience.
As an author, Emilio shares his journey with vulnerability and hope, using his voice to encourage and uplift caregivers, youth, and professionals in the child welfare space. His unique background makes him a powerful presence within Silent Waters Therapeutic Services, where he serves as a Family Engagement & Advocacy Partner. Through bilingual outreach and connection, Emilio brings light to the often unseen experiences of foster and adoptive families.
