Joseph Montalvo, LMFTA, is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate and a bilingual Spanish-speaking clinician with extensive experience serving children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. He specializes in supporting clients navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, behavioral challenges, grief, and complex family dynamics.
Before entering the mental health field, Joseph spent over eight years working as a video content producer at ESPN, where he honed his storytelling and communication skills. Today, he brings that creative lens into his clinical work-incorporating poetry, narrative therapy, and storytelling-based techniques into both therapy and professional trainings.
Joseph brings deep personal and professional insight into the child welfare system as a former foster parent and current adoptive father. His leadership in the fields of foster care, kinship care, and family engagement reflects a long-standing commitment to vulnerable children and caregivers. He also serves as a school-based therapist and directs a community-based fatherhood initiative.
Known for his culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and faith-integrated approach (when requested), Joseph blends evidence-based modalities with a holistic understanding of each client’s emotional, biological, relational, and spiritual needs. He also has experience supporting professional and collegiate athletes, offering care that balances performance demands with personal identity and mental health.
Joseph’s work is rooted in compassion, purpose, and a belief in the transformative power of safe, attuned relationships.
